About Hot Box #2
Ever since our launch in 2015, customers asked for a hotter hot sauce. We were so overwhelmed with our original four sauces, we’d smile and just say, “Yeah, maybe someday.”
That “someday” arrived in late 2019, when Hot Ones reached out requesting a new sauce to fill their legendary #7 out of 10 spot in Season 13. Our Habanero previously held the #6 spot back in Season 9 and was a celebrity favorite, so we knew this called for a bigger, bolder, and decidedly hotter sauce.
We fired up the roaster and kettle and started experimenting. Our winning formula started with Habanero, our best-selling hot sauce, and the addition Ghost, Scorpion, and Reaper peppers. For rich depth and complexity, we added a boozy twist. Then we fine-tuned with other healthy ingredients to complement and enhance the flavor theme of each sauce.
Note: The alcohol cooks out.
